Most letters that we send home with students are under the link "Letters Home" to the left. If you don't see what you are looking for there, feel free to email us. We'll try and get it to you. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact us! The best way is email. The phone number is a direct line to the choir room, but we let the voice mail answer while we're teaching. We usually check messages after school or during our conference period. Click here for our contact information.
September 28, 2008 Due to Hurricane Ike, there have been some changes to our calendar. Our Fall Concert will remain the same, but the younger choirs will perform fewer songs. We have chosen to focus on quality, not necessarily quantity to alleviate the two weeks of school lost. However, the Spaghetti Supper date has been changed to Friday, October 21. Also, for the 7th & 8th graders, the Region Choir Auditions have been postponed. We should be receving notice of the new date sometime this week. Likewise, the Region Choir Clinic and Concert will also be postponed.
September 9, 2008 I would like to say a big thank you to our wonderful principal, Thyrun Hurst, our awesome Assistant Superintendent, Paula Almond, our amazing Superintendent, Guy Sconzo, and our spectacular School Board! They have worked very hard to keep from hurting students during this budget crisis that is unfortunately not over yet. Specifically, when it comes to the Choir Program here at AMS, they deserve a big thank you for hiring our second Choir teacher, Ms. Smith-Martinez. We are both in the classroom for every class either co-teaching or we are splitting students into smaller groups to better teach them. I'm looking forward to getting more into our usual routine as the year progresses and we are no longer doing some of this "beginning of the year" stuff. :) We are currently getting sizes for Polo Shirts and T-shirts for students. The T-shirts are generic adult sizes, but the polos tend to run large. We're having students try those shirts on when in doubt of which size to get. All the polos will run long in the sleeves and long in the torso, so we are looking at the fit around the torso. As soon as we get all the sizes for the polos, we'll order them and get them to the students ASAP. The students will soon vote on a T-shirt design. Once that is selected, we'll order the T-shirts as well. Most classes will be electing their choir officers this Friday. That will be a treat! Also, I was unable to get everything together for a Pool Party, but we have Skate Party planned for Sept. 30 at Humble Family Skate Center in downtown Humble from 6-8 PM. This is a private party and is always enjoyable. I'll be getting more information home about this event. 7th & 8th graders are already preparing for their Region Choir Auditions. We have begun after school practices to learn the music. After speaking with some of the students, I am finding out that some adjustments need to be made with the rehearsal calendar.
